I feel like we are in the midst of an election, reporting on new poll numbers every day. This time, however, the public option is the candidate running for office. Robert Creamer, blogging on the Huffington Post, offers some compelling reasons as to why, despite a ’squandered’ summer, the public option is still alive and kicking.

(1) It looks more and more like the bill won’t be the result of bipartisan compromise.

(2) Four out of five legislative committees have produced bills with strong public options, the media just isn’t reporting it that way.

(3) The President has finally got his message right and has firmly thrown himself into the ring to fight for the public option.

(4) New poll data says the public stands firmly behind a public option.
