This week the media will, like usual, focus on individual personalities in Washington D.C. and elsewhere in politics. They will try to tell you whose up and whose down — without focuses on the substance of real issues and global problems.

In the wake of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday, however, I am preparing a piece about how our aid policies haven’t always helped the people of Haiti and in some cases, in fact, have made the long-term situation there much worse. I will also suggest some more sensible approaches to aiding the development process there. Stay tuned and keep the people of Haiti close in your hear and in your mind during this especially difficult time.
